Biography Shelley A. Garrett, 40, of West Peoria, passed away at 10:25 a.m., on Saturday, December, 31, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Shelley was born on April 11, 1965 in Peoria, daughter of Donald L. and Jane Schroeder Beamer. She married Jason P. Garrett on September 17, 1994 in East Peoria. He survives.
She is also survived by her mother, Jane Jaggard of Wyoming, IL; son, Shane Mabus of West Peoria; daughter, Samantha Mabus of West Peoria; sister, Melissa Beamer of Kirkersville, OH; niece, Madison Rains of Kirkersville, OH; father-in-law, Ralph (Mary) Garrett of Laramie, WY; and mother-in-law, Judy (Noel) Howard of Morton. Her father preceded her in death.
Shelley was a Victim’s Advocate for the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department. She was formerly the assistant to Chief Larry Hawkins of the Peoria Heights Police Department. Shelley was a graduate of Illinois Central College. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Peoria, 700 Main St.
Shelley enjoyed sewing and making crafts, listening to blues and jazz music, and collecting candles, purses and shoes. She was a fan of the Chicago Bulls and enjoyed visiting Chicago and Colorado and shopping at the malls in St. Louis. Her family, Shane's graduation and Samantha's eighth-grade graduation were the things most important to her. Shelley will most be remembered for being a good person, a hard worker and a good mother.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at her church, with the Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Clary Funeral Consultants, 1625 West Candletree Dr., Peoria, IL 61614. Interment was held at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shane & Samantha Mabus Education Fund at First Bank, 3037 N. Sterling, Peoria, 61604. |
